Daisies

DAISIES

It is possible, I suppose that sometime
we will learn everything
there is to learn: what the world is, for example,
and what it means. I think this as I am crossing
from one field to another, in summer, and the
mockingbird is mocking me, as one who either
knows enough already or knows enough to be
perfectly content not knowing. Song being born
of quest he knows this: he must turn silent
were he suddenly assaulted with answers. Instead

oh hear his wild, caustic, tender warbling ceaselessly
unanswered. At my feet the white-petalled daisies display
the small suns of their center piece, their -- if you don't
mind my saying so -- their hearts. Of course
I could be wrong, perhaps their hearts are pale and
narrow and hidden in the roots. What do I know?
But this: it is heaven itself to take what is given,
to see what is plain; what the sun lights up willingly;
for example -- I think this
as I reach down, not to pick but merely to touch --
the suitability of the field for the daisies, and the
daisies for the field.

Oh Kirsten...what a beautiful, whimsical photograph! What a little love your daughter is...

And I think Mary was right...those little sunshine centers are the daisies hearts.

(And again...thank you so much for your call today...It was the sunshine center of my day! :)

My heart just skipped a beat when I came by for a visit and was greeted by this most beautiful vision of innocence and joy.

How brimming over with love you must be for this tender 'princess daisy' that you hold so dearly in your heart :)

Every word of Mary Oliver's is so beautiful, but I think the poetry in your photograph far surpasses even her written word...

so much beauty and love in one small space, it really does take one's breath away.

Thank you for this precious gift Kirsten... it was so worth the wait.

mmmm...I think I could sit with this forever. And this image of your brown-eyed girl is just divinity.
sending you so much love kirsten. I am looking into next week, seeing wide open possibility for a chat (at last!). It would come at a much needed time dear friend. Might you have time?

I'm not sure how I stumbled upon you here.
But I'm happy I did so today.

HI! I miss you, too. I feel exactly the same. Yesterday was so crazy busy with getting things back to "normal" when I feel a little better than "normal" now. Thank you so much for making me feel loved and accepted from the first moment I met you.

Love you, friend.

hello beautiful tender sister/friend,
